KIRKLEES / KREIS UNNA TWINNING.

DEWSBURY SWIMMERS / TURA BERGKAMEN VISIT 2012.

This year was the 15th. Visit from TuRa Bergkamen to the Dewsbury Dolphins Swimmers. Over the past 30 years.

Saturday 06.10.2012.

Guests arrived in Dewsbury at approx 20.30pm. Eventually host families and guests were paired off and departed for home, refreshments and a good night's sleep.


Sunday 07.10.2012.

"Get to know your guest day." Adult Guests and host families met in Leeds to visit  Royal Armouries.
  With meal at the  Palace chine Restaurant  on Kirkstall Road Leeds. Younger visitors accompanied host families to other venues of interest. Sunday evening, a welcome disco held at Shawcross Boys Club.

Monday 08.10.2012.

Full day outing to Blackpool by the Sea with day pass for amusement park. Later a drive through the lights and back in Dewsbury at 22:00

Tuesday 09.10.2012.

Morning was a visit to Bradford Industrial Museum. Afternoon Bradford Photo museum with and IMAX film "The Deep". Evening entertainment provided by host families

Wednesday 10.10.2012.

Full day outing to Wet and Wild Water Park Newcastle on Tyne. Back to Dewsbury for 19.30.

Thursday 11.10.2012.

Visit to the  Thackray Medical Museum
  Leeds, with a meal at the  PIZZA Hut   Leeds. Followed by 10 pin bowling at the  Hollywood Bowl  and a short visit to the White Rose Shopping Centre on the way back to Dewsbury. In the evening, the annual inter-club swimming competition was won by Dewsbury Club. The day was rounded off at the Ravens Wharf Hotel Dewsbury, who kindly provided refreshments.

Friday 12.10.2012.

Day shopping at Meadowhall Sheffield. This was requested by our visitors and not the visit to York Old City as our original program. In the evening farewell disco was held at Shaw Cross Boys Club where the Deputy Mayor of Kirklees and Consort presented the various trophies and addressed the gathering, expressing the hope that all present had enjoyed visit and noting that it was the 30th year (31st visit) of the exchange.

Saturday 13.10.2012.

Early departure of guests, smiles, hugs and tears before the coach departed at 04.30.

Once again the visit was thoroughly enjoyed by all - here's to the next time!
