DEWSBURY SWIMMERS / TURA BERGKAMEN VISIT 2014.
|This year was the 16th.
Visit from TuRa Bergkamen to the Dewsbury
Dolphins Swimmers. Over the past 32 years.
Guests arrived in Dewsbury at approx 20.30pm. Eventually host families and guests were paired off and departed for home, refreshments and a good night's sleep.
"Get to know your guest day." Adult Guests and host families met The Swan & Sygnet, Wakefield First a walk round Pugneys With meal at the The Swan & Sygnet Restaurant on Denby Dale Road Wakefield. Younger visitors accompanied host families to other venues of interest. Sunday evening, a welcome disco held at Shawcross Boys Club.
Full day outing to Forbidden Corner. North Yorkshire. Back to Dewsbury for 18:00. Some of the adults go for a meal at the Silkwood Park Wakefield.
Morning was a visit to Yorkshire Water in Leeds to see the clean water treatment site. Afternoon Yorkshire Water Bradford, Waste water treatment site. Evening free with host families
Full day out at Flamingoland fun park and zoo. Calling for a short visit to the White Rose Shopping Centre on the way back to Dewsbury. Children with host families, adults go to the Station Pub Wellington street for drinks.
Visit to the Discovery Centre Leeds at 09:30 Then at 12:30 for a meal at the PIZZA Hut Leeds. Followed by 10 pin bowling at the Hollywood Bowl In the evening, the annual inter-club swimming competition was won by TuRa. The day was rounded off at the Ravens Wharf Hotel Dewsbury, who kindly provided refreshments.
Leeds City Museum. Then rest of the Day shopping in Leeds. In the evening farewell disco was held at Hanging Heaton Working Mens Club, where the Mayor of Kirklees and Consort presented the various trophies and addressed the gathering, expressing the hope that all present had enjoyed visit and noting that it was the 32th year of the exchange.
Early departure of guests, smiles, hugs and tears before the coach departed at 04.30.
